As far as I can
remember, my first
main encounter with a Mini, was
following a Mini Mayfair with a 6ft
CB aerial mounted
in the
centre of the roof. Quite
comical, but it did mean
we never lost it!
Then after
being taken as a
passenger in
the back of a Mini Van, my interest in Mini`s was
not particularly
high! However after meeting Holly, she
introduced the
Mini bug in the form of Min, a rusty 1983 Mini
City E in need of
a lot of help. After getting Min back on the road and giving
Min a lot of test
driving I just had to have a Mini of my own. The Mini bug
had bitten! On
visiting our local Rover garage to see the Avengers Mini,
there just
happened to be a Flame Red Mini Sportspack on the
forecourt. So
became the beginnings of Budgie! Since then, the Mini`s
have been
breeding! Holly aquired Merri whilst on holiday on
Guernsey, a 1968
woody for restoration. After completing Merri, Min
was unfortunately
then in need of further TLC, see
www.hollysminis.co.uk for full details of both
Mini`s.
Along the way Budgie also has been receiving varying
modifications
including side
zips, a full sprayed roof Union Jack,
bonnet bulge, Starmags etc.... In more recent times, I`ve come by a 1986
Mini City E, aptly named Sooty. Thus now starting my next project...
2005 is going to be the year of Sooty. |
